Akribis Systems Pte Ltd recognised at the Made in Singapore Awards 2021 for pick and place machine innovation

The Singaporean company has its eyes set on increasing manufacturing output with their new Akribis Picker (APK) Series.

Akribis Systems has constantly been developing new products and technologies through the years, with this product recently added to its repertoire of innovations, Akribis Systems now has a solution for high precision and high throughput Pick and Place processes.

The APK Series is a line of multi-axis modules designed with compactness in mind, allowing machine designers and system integrators to optimize their limited workspace with more actuators than previously possible. Compared to conventional pickers with only 2 axis of motion (Z-axis for picking & Theta-axis for orientating), the APK series manage to achieve this compactness while having an additional third axis of motion for fine alignment purposes in the process direction that is beneficial when multiple pickers are used in a system

The APK series rides on the expertise of Akribis’ direct drive motor technology, position sensor technology, and drive technology to deliver a compact package with high performance in speed and precision.

For this design innovation, Akribis Systems Pte. Ltd. won an award under the Robotics category of the recently concluded Made in Singapore Awards hosted jointly by Singapore Business Review and Manufacturing Asia. The awards programme is a prestigious event that recognises exceptional business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) products made by a Singapore-based office or team.

Pick and place solutions are widely used in manufacturing as a means of accurately transporting, aligning or assembling parts. Some clients that Akribis Systems has supplied to has integrated the APK modules onto printed circuit board assembly lines, where it is used to pick up IC chips and passive devices such as resistors and capacitors to be inserted on the printed circuit boards. These ultimately become computers, mobile phones, televisions, and many other electronic devices.

Picker modules are also prevalent in part stamping lines where high-speed die sets punches thousands of parts into a bin where the pick and place actuators are used to sort and pack the parts into reels for use in subsequent assembly processes.

The company is committed to the continual improvement of its products and is confident that this product will help play a part in improving various automated applications and processes all over the globe.
