South Korean startup, Infineon Technologies to offer in-cabin sensing solution
The newly launched radar can provide safety monitoring solutions.
Imaging radar technology firm bitsensing announced a partnership with global semiconductor solutions provider Infineon Technologies to revolutionize the in-cabin experience with the 60GHz MOD620 radar.
Designed by bitsensing and enabled by Infineon, the radar is capable of providing a powerful safety monitoring solution that drivers can trust.
Recent study on heatstroke deaths of children in vehicles by Jan Null of San Jose State University found that since the 1990s, 54% of children who died in hot cars died because they were forgotten by their caregivers. The MOD620 prevents such death by efficiently detecting the presence and vital signs of in-cabin occupants and sending the driver alerts if a child is left unattended inside a car.

bitsensing rearranged the hardware configuration and redesigned the antenna in order to make the MOD620 radar. Powerful computing is achieved through the microcontroller unit making it possible for radar data to be signal-processed and calculated.
The monolithic microwave integrated circuit, or MMIC, then transmits and receives signals through electro-magnetic waves for detection whilst the antenna is integrated with radio frequency energy from the radar transmission line into the propagation medium and vice versa. These components work together seamlessly for an advanced caliber of radar performance.
