SNI Standard keeps Aquaproof’s products top notch

By committing themselves to the SNI Standard, employees and management drive the quality of products for supreme customer satisfaction.

Aquaproof, known for its pioneering work in anti-leak coatings for buildings, is not shedding an inch of its competitive advantage. In fact, PT Inter Aneka Lestari Kimia is committed to the SNI Standard for Water-Based Anti-Leak Coating, namely SNI 8665:2018.

“As a company deeply committed to product quality and customer satisfaction, the application of the SNI standard is part of our efforts and commitment to always maintain and improve product quality above our competitors, thus meeting the specifications required by the SNI,” PT. Inter Aneka Lestari Kimia Director Inge Setyawati told Manufacturing Asia.

The story of Aquaproof remains set on the company’s drive to offer solutions, just as faithfully as when it emerged when traditional asphalt-based products suffered from various drawbacks. “The asphalt-based products are not aesthetically pleasing, prone to melting in sunlight, sticky, and short-lived,” recalled Setyawati.

Recognising these limitations, PT. Inter Aneka Lestari Kimia took the initiative to establish itself as the premier manufacturer of acrylic-based anti-leak coatings. This innovative approach allows for the formulation of coatings in a spectrum of colors whilst ensuring maximum water resistance, strong adhesion, high elasticity, and exceptional durability.

“[We were] the first acrylic-based anti-leak coating manufacturer, capable of being formulated into various colors, achieving maximum water resistance, strong adhesion, high elasticity, and durability,” she said. “Strict Quality Control is conducted to maintain the consistency of our product quality.”

Reiterating the importance of customer satisfaction, she said the SNI standard is a testament to the company’s effort and commitment to ensure that the products marketed always provide maximum benefits to consumers.

Ensuring quality

To maintain product quality in accordance with SNI requirements, the company ensures that raw materials, processes, and finished products meet product acceptance standards.

The selection of raw materials and their respective suppliers undergoes strict scrutiny if only to ensure high quality. To do this, employees must be ingrained with the understanding of the entire production process and quality control standard.

“We understand that the SNI is a requirement to ensure that the product has high quality so that consumers get the right benefits from the product used,” Setyawati said.

PT Inter Aneka Lestari Kimia, though, is no stranger to adopting high standards. It has also been implementing SNI ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems since 2000; SNI ISO 14001:2015 environmental management systems since 2013; and OHSAS 18001:2007 occupational health and safety management systems since 2013.

“By implementing various management systems, prioritising quality has become a habit for our employees,” she said.

Employee training is also conducted intensively to ensure that all employees understand these management systems implemented and the roles of each employee according to their respective positions.

To maintain consistency in management and employee performance towards maintaining product quality in accordance with SNI, the company continues to foster an office culture dedicated to enhancing Aquaproof’s competitive advantage.

“To maintain product quality, we always maintain the implementation of various procedures, work instructions, and standards,” stressed Setyawati. “Routinely, we conduct briefings, socialisations, and internal audits to ensure that all quality management systems are implemented, including the application of SNI for products that we have achieved.”

And, as an end result of this harmony and collaborative effort: 14 types of anti-leak coatings and other building chemical products are produced for sale to retailers and various other products for projects.

“Aquaproof is marketed throughout Indonesia, through traditional markets, modern markets, or online marketing,” she said proudly.

In the future, the company still has targets to diversify products in the building chemical category whilst maintaining the superiority of product quality in the market to be the primary choice of consumers.
